Thomas Clarke of Kinoulton 1847 Will

Extracted from the Registry of the Prerogative Court of York

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Clarke of Kinoulton in the County of Nottingham farmer

I direct all my debts to be paid

I give unto my faithful Shepherd John Hicks the sum of one hundred pounds and unto my present housekeeper Margaret Pickard (if in my service at my decease) the sum of fifty pounds both legacies to be paid at the end of twelve months from my death

I give and devise all my messuages or tenements closes lands hereditaments and premises whatsoever situate standing lying and being at Dadlington in the County of Leicester and at Cropwell Bishop in the County of Nottingham and all other my real estate whatsoever and wheresoever and also all my household goods and furniture plate linen china ready money and securities for money live and dead farming stock tenant right and possession of my farm and lands at Kinoulton aforesaid and all other my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto the said Thomas Hicks absolutely and in fee simple

And I appoint the said Thomas Hicks sole executor of this my Will

Witness my hand this tenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and forty one

Signed by the said Thomas Clarke as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses

This Will was proved at York the 23rd day of July 1847 by the Oath of Thomas Hicks the sole executor therein named to whom Probate was granted he having been first sworn duly to administer

Proved at London 20th December 1847 before the Judge by the Oath of Thomas Hicks the sole executor to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by Comon only to administer

1841 Thomas Hicks independent was in the same household as Thomas Clark at Kinoulton Grange, John Hicks agricultural labourer was also at Kinoulton Grange but in a separate building
