In the name of god Amen for as much as it is the parte of Every Christian to sett in order and to dispose of his goods which god in mercy hath bestowed uppon him before he departe this naturall life therefore I John Chester of Harbye in the countye of Leicester yeoman beinge sicke in bodye but of good and perfitte memorye (thanks be to god) doe make this my laste will and testament in manner and form following

Firste I give and bequeath my Soule unto allmighty god my maker hopinge to be saved by the merits of Jesus Christe my only Saviour and redeemer and my body to the earthe from whence it came

Item I give unto my Sonne Richard Wellingham and Kataren his now wife five pounds to be put forward to the use of their Children to be payd within three yeares after my deacease

Item I give unto my Sonne James Harby and Jane his now wife foure pounds whereof fourty shillings to be sett forth to the use of their daughter Jane and thother fourty to be put forth for the two younger Children John & Thomas to be payd within three yeares after my deacease

Item I give unto my Sonn James and his Sonne James foure pounds whereof fourty shillings to be sett forth for my sayd Sonne James his Sonne to be payd within three yeares as aforesayd

Item I give unto Ann Tylsh the daughter of Edward Tylsh five pounds when she … from her … or shalbe married
