This is the last Will and Testament of me John Brewin of Grimston in the County of Leicester Farmer

I appoint William Wilford of Wartnaby in the said County of Leicester Farmer and George Samuel Wells of Abb Kettleby in the same County Farmer Trustees and Executors of this my Will and I give to the said George Samuel Wells a Legacy of Five pounds as an acknowledgment for his trouble in acting as a Trustee and Executor hereof

I give to my Wife Sarah Brewin Household Furniture, Plate Linen and other Household Effects of her own choice not exceeding in value the sum of Twenty pounds but in case my said Wife should die in my lifetime I bequeath my dozen silver tea spoons, four silver table spoons and pair of silver sugar bows (formerly my Wife’s) to her niece Sarah Wilford

I bequeath all the remainder of my Furniture and Household Effects, my money securities for money, Farming Stock and all other my Personal Estate not hereinbefore disposed of to my said Trustees Upon trust to sell and convert into money the same or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and thereout to pay my Debts, Funeral and Testamentary Expenses the above Legacy and a Legacy of Fifty pounds each to such of the Children of my Wife’s deceased Brother Andrew Wilford as shall be living at my death and to pay and divide the residue of the money to arise from the sale and conversion of my residuary Personal Estate unto and equally between such of the Children of my deceased Sister Mary Storr as shall be living at my death

I give and devise my Farm House and about nine acres of Land situate at Grimston aforesaid in my own occupation and all other the Real Estate of which I shall die possessed (except Estates vested in me as a Trustee or Mortgagee) to my said Trustees, the said William Wilford & George Samuel Wells their heirs and assigns Upon trust to sell the same and to invest the net money arising therefrom upon Real or Government Security and pay the income thereof to my said Wife during her life and after her death to dispose of the principal as follows (that is to say)

As to Three hundred and fifty pounds part thereof, to invest the same in manner aforesaid or continue an existing investment of that amount and pay the income thereof to my Brother Lank Brewin during his life and after his death to pay and divide the principal unto and equally between such of the Children of my said deceased Sister Mary Storr as shall be then living Provided always that if any Child of the said Mary Storr shall have died in my lifetime or after my death and before the time appointed for the division of the said principal sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds leaving a Child or Children living at my death or at the time appointed for division of the said sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds (as the case may be) then and in every such case such last mentioned Child or Children shall take (and if more than one equally between them) the share which his her or their parent would have taken of and in my residuary personal estate and the said sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds if such parent had been living at the time of my death or at the time appointed for the division of the said sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds

And as to the sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds further part of the money to arise from the sale of my said Real Estate I direct my said Trustees to invest the same in manner aforesaid and pay the income thereof to my Sister Sarah the Wife of Thomas Frisby during her life and after her death to dispose of the principal as follows (namely)

To pay thereout a Legacy of Ten pounds each to such of the children of my deceased niece Sarah Wright (the Daughter of my deceased Sister Trifaner Hollis) as shall be then living and to pay a Legacy of Fifty pounds to my second Cousin Robert Lee formerly of Croxton Kerrial but now residing in Australia and to pay and divide the residue of the said principal sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds unto and equally between the Children of the said Mary Storr and their issue in the same manner as I have hereinbefore directed with respect to the said principal sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds after the death of the said Lank Brewin

And as to the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds further part of the money to arise from the sale of my said Real Estate I direct my said Trustees after the death of my said Wife to invest the same in manner aforesaid and pay the income thereof to Sarah Brown (the Wife of Thomas Brown) of old Basford near Nottingham the Sister of my first Wife, during her life and after her death to dispose of the principal thereof as follows (namely)

To pay thereout to each of her Daughters Jane [blank] and Emily Roe a Legacy of Ten pounds and to pay and divide the residue of the said principal sum of One hundred and fifty pounds unto and equally between the Children of the said Mary Storr and their issue in the same manner as I have hereinbefore directed with respect to the said principal sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds after the death of the said Lank Brewin

And as to the residue of the money to arise from the sale of my said Real Estate to pay thereout a Legacy of Fifty pounds each to such of the Children of the said Andrew Wilford as shall be living at the death of my said Wife and to divide the remainder thereof equally between the Children of the said Mary Storr and their issue in the same manner as I have hereinbefore directed with respect to the said principal sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds after the death of the said Lank Brewin

I devise all Estates vested in me as a Trustee or Mortgagee to the said William Wilford and George Samuel Wells their heirs and assigns subject to the trusts and equities affecting the same respectively

I declare that the expression “my said Trustees” used by me in this my Will shall be construed as comprising and referring to the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of this my Will

This is a Codicil to the Will of me John Brewin of Grimston in the County of Leicester Farmer which Will bears date the 2nd day of March 1875

I bequeath to my Wife Sarah Brewin the sum of ten pounds in addition to the provision made for her by my said Will such last mentioned legacy to be paid to her immediately after my death

And whereas by my said Will I have bequeathed the residue of the money to arise from the sale and conversion of my residuary personal estate after payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the legacies in my said Will mentioned unto and equally between such of the Children of my deceased Sister Mary Storr as shall be living at my death and by my said Will I have set apart sums of Three hundred and fifty pounds Two hundred and fifty pounds and One hundred and fifty pounds out of the moneys to arise from the sale of my real estate and I have bequeathed the residue of such sums and of the said moneys arising from the sale of my said real estate (subject to certain life interests and legacies in my said Will specified) unto and equally between such of the Children of my said Sister Mary Storr as shall be living at my death and the Children of any deceased Child of the said Mary Storr Now I hereby declare that Frank Storr and Sarah the Wife of John Harvey (two of the Children of the said Mary Storr) shall take no interest under my said Will and I bequeath the shares which they would have taken under the trusts hereinbefore recited unto and equally between such of the children of the said Frank Storr & Mary Harvey respectively as shall be living at my death

I revoke the legacy of Ten pounds by my said Will bequeathed to Mary Ann Mansfield the daughter of my deceased niece Sarah Wright

I declare that my Trustees shall have power in addition to the investments authorised by my said Will to invest any of the moneys arising from the my estate in or upon the Preference or Debenture Stocks or Shares of any Railway Company in the United Kingdom which shall be paying a regular Dividend upon its ordinary share capital at the time of such investment

And in all other respects I confirm my said Will

Proved at Leicester with a Codicil on the Sixth day of December 1881 by the Oaths of William Wilford and George Samuel Wells the Executors named in the Will to whom administration was granted

The Testator John Brewin was late of Grimston in the County of Leicester Farmer and died on the Twenty third day of September 1881 at Grimston aforesaid
