This is the last Will and Testament of me George Braithwaite of Stathern in the County of Leicester Lace Manufacturer which I make Publish and declare in manner and form following

First I will and Direct that all my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences be Paid as soon as convenient after my Death by my Executors hereinafter mentioned

I Give and Bequeath unto my dear Wife Mary Braithwaite all my Household Furniture Plate Linen and China for her own use and Benefit Absolutely

I also Give and Bequeath unto my Dear Wife Mary Braithwaite a Legacy or Sum of Six Hundred Pounds Sterling to be paid to her as soon as may be convenient after my Decease

I will and Devise all the rest of my Personal Estates and Effects Monies and Securities for Monies Stock in Trade and all other my Personal Estate and Effects not before devised of whatever nature and wheresoever situate either in Possession or in expectancy at the time of my Decease unto my Friends William Clifton of Bingham in the County of Nottingham Builder and William Miller of Stathern aforesaid Farmer their Heirs Executors administrators and assigns and the Survivor of them Upon Trust First to call in all Monies and Securities for Monies and sell and dispose of all my Stock in Trade and convert it into money and after payment of all my Just debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences and all other Expences incurred in carrying out the Provisions of this my last Will and Payment of the Legacy of Six Hundred Pounds above mentioned to my dear Wife to Place out the Residue on Government or real Securities or in any other way my aforesaid Trustees may think well with Power to change and vary the Securities from time to time as they my said Trustees may think fit and with the Rents Profits and Interest arising from my aforesaid Personal Estate and Effects to apply the same as it becomes due unto My dear Wife Mary Braithwaite for and during the Term of her natural life and her receipt alone shall be good and sufficient discharges to my Trustees paying the same accordingly and after the death of my Wife Mary Braithwaite I will and Bequeath unto the Children of my Brother William Braithwaite a Legacy or sum of Fifty Pounds each

I will and Bequeath unto the Children of my late Brother John Braithwaite a Legacy or sum of Thirty Pounds each

I will and Bequeath unto the Children of my Brother Benjamin Braithwaite a Legacy or sum of Thirty Pounds each

I will and Bequeath unto the children of my Sister Martha the wife of John Miller a Legacy or sum of Thirty Pounds each and in case any of the Children of my aforesaid Brothers and Sister should die during the lifetime of my said Wife leaving Issue then I will and Bequeath his or her share so devised to him or her shall be given to his or her Children in equal shares and Proportions as the case may be

I Give and Bequeath unto the Children of Thomas Jackson of Grantham a Legacy or Sum of Nineteen Guineas each

I Give and Bequeath unto the Children of John Jackson of Seagrave a Legacy or Sum of Nineteen Guineas each

I Give and Bequeath unto the Children of Richard Jackson of Eaton in the said County a Legacy or Sum of Nineteen Guineas each

I Give and Bequeath unto the Children of Hellen Attiwell the Widow of the late George Attiwell of Eaton aforesaid a Legacy or sum of Nineteen Guineas each and in case any of the Children of the aforesaid Thomas Jackson John Jackson Richard Jackson and Hellen Attiwell should die during the lifetime of my Wife leaving Issue then I will and Bequeath his or her share so Bequeathed unto his or her children in equal shares and Proportions as the case may be

I will and Bequeath unto the Trustees of the Wesleyan Preachers Houses situate in Bingham in the County of Nottingham a Legacy or Sum of Nineteen Guineas to be applied in reducing the debt on the aforesaid Premises

I will and Bequeath unto the aforesaid William Clifton and William Miller a Legacy or Sum of Nineteen Guineas each for their Services in carrying out the Provisions of this my last Will and as and for all the rest and residue of my Personal Estates and Effects after Payment of all the aforesaid Debts Expences and Legacies above mentioned I Give and Bequeath the same unto my dear Wife Mary Braithwaite her Heirs Executors Administrators or assigns by any Will or devise or Instrument which she my said Wife may make

I devise all Estates vested in me as a Trustee or Mortgagee to the said William Clifton and William Miller their Executors administrators and assigns subject to the Trusts and Equities affecting the same accordingly and I declare that the receipts of my said Trustees the said William Clifton and William Miller shall be good and sufficient discharges to all persons paying monies under this my Will and that they shall be exonerated from all liability in  respect to the application thereof or be accountable [sic] for the misapplication or nonapplication thereof or any Part thereof accordingly

And lastly I hereby nominate and appoint the aforesaid William Clifton and William Miller Executors of this my last Will and Testament giving them full authority and Power to carry out all its Provisions and that they shall not be accountable nor responsible for any loss that which may arise in carrying it out but shall reimburse themselves all Expences that there may be incurred in carrying out

As Witness my hand to the Preceding sheet of Paper and my hand and seal to this the Second and last Sheet of Paper this Second day of February One thousand eight hundred and Sixty Seven

The Testator George Braithwaite was late of Stathern in the County of Leicester Lace Manufacturer and died on the fourteenth day of February 1872 at Stathern aforesaid
