Joseph Bowley of Nether Broughton 1785 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Bowley of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Grazier

In the first place I will that all my just debts and Funeral Expences be paid and discharged

I give and bequeath unto my two Friends John Bowley of Woodthorpe and James Shillcock of Nether Broughton Both in the County of Leicester the Sum of Sixty Pounds in Trust for the Uses hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) to be by them put out to Intrest on Good and sufficient security or securityes for the use of my four Eldest Children viz John Mary Ann and Elizabeth or the Survivors of them and to be paid them as they shall severally attain their full ages of Twenty one years, and further my will is that the Interest and produce of the aid sum of Sixty Pounds shall untill my said Children attain their several Ages of Twenty one years be paid to my beloved Wife if she so long remain my widdow But if she Marry again before my Said four Children or the Survivors of them attain their several Ages of Twenty one Years Then I Will that the Intrest shall be reserved for the Use of my said four Children or the Survivors of them to be paid with the Principal share and share alike as they shall severally attain their full ages of Twenty one Years

I give and Bequeath Unto my son John Bowley the Bed Compleat and also a Chest that Was his Grandmothers

I give and bequeath unto my three youngest Children Joseph William and Sarah the sum of forty-five Pounds to be paid them or the survivor of them when they shall attain their several ages of Twenty one Years that is to say Fifteen pounds Each But if my Wife Marry again before my said three youngest Children or the Survivor them attain their full ages of twenty one years Then I give and bequeath the said sum of Forty five pounds unto my said two friends John Bowley and James Shillcock to be by them put out to Intrest of Good and sufficient Security or Securities for the use of my three said youngest Children (or the Survivor of them) to be paid them with the Intrest when they shall severally attain their full age of Twenty one Years and further my Will is that my Executrix shall find and provide for all my Children until they attain their several ages of Twenty one years

And if Any of my Seven Children shall Die Before they Shall attain the age of Twenty one years their shares to be Equaly Devided amongst the Rest of my Children

All the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels and Personal Estate be they of What nature or kind Soever I give and bequeath the same unto my beloved Wife Ann Bowley whom I also appoint full and sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament Revoking all former Wills by me at any time made and this only to be my last Will and Testament Revoking all former Wills and Testaments

In witness whereof I the said Joseph Bowley the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and eighty five
