This is the last Will and Testament of me William Bates of Abb Kettleby in the County of Leicester Yeoman
I direct my just debts funeral and Testamentary expences be first paid
I Give unto my Son Thomas Bates Twenty pounds to be paid to him within twelve months after my death
Whereas I have sold and Conveyed my Estate at Wymondham and received part of the purchase money thereof and there now remains due to me on Note the sum of One hundred pounds and interest from the twenty fifth of January last Now in case I do not receive the said sum and Interest and dispose of the same in my lifetime I Give the same as follows unto my Daughter Mary Talton Twenty pounds part thereof, unto my Daughter Ann Tuckwood Twenty pounds other part thereof, unto my Daughter Elizabeth Johnson Ten pounds other part thereof, and unto my said Son Thomas Bates Twenty pounds other part thereof, and the Residue I Give unto my Son George Bates his executors and Administrators
I Give and Devise all my Real Estate situate in Abb Kettleby aforesaid or elsewhere with the Appurtenances unto my Son George Bates his heirs and Assigns for ever
I Give and bequeath all my personal Estate and effects whatsoever (subject to my just debts funeral and Testamentary expences and legacy of twenty pounds to my Son Thomas Bates) unto my said Son George Bates his executors and Administrators
And I do appoint him Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others by me made
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of June 1842

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said William Bates the testator as and for his last Will and testament in the presence of use who have at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time set our hands as Witnesses

George Bates of Ab Kettleby in the County of Leicester, Tailor, the sole Executor in this will named was duly sworn to the truth & faithful performance thereof as usual & that the goods chattels & credits of the deceased without deducting any debts to him therefrom do not amount in value to the sum of two hundred pounds (£200) & that the deceased died on the thirtieth day of March last past
