In the name of god Amen This sixte daye of Aprill in the yere of the Raigne of our Soveraigne lorde Charles, by the grace of god of Englande Scotlande France and Irelande kinge defender of the faith &c the fifte 1629 I Robert Bateman of Claxton als longe Clawston in the Countie of Leceister Shoemaker beinge sicke of bodye but of good & perfect memory (praysed bee god) Doe ordayne & make this my last will and testament in manner followeinge
In primis I give & bequeathe my soule to god who gave it, & my bodie to bee buried in the Churchyarde of Claxton aforesaide
Itm I give towe parts of my goodes throughout to my foure Children equally to be divided by equall parts
First to my sonne Marke Bateman I give an equall & fourth part soe be yf he continue with his mother, or els I give unto him xiid for his filliall portion if he departe from his mother
Itim I give unto my sonne William Bateman a fourth part of my goods, equally to be divided as aforesaide
Itim I give a fourth part of my goods to my daughter Margarett Bateman equally to divided as aforesaide
Itm I give the last part of the foure unto my daughter Marye equally to be divided as aforesaide
All which portions my will is shall be payed at the severall ages of 21th yeares or daye of mariage first Comminge
The thirde part and the rest of all my goods unbequeathed I give & bequeath unto my loveinge wife Elizabeth Bateman, whome I make & ordayne sole and full executrix of this my last will and testament, to see my debts & legacies payed my bodies to bee reverently brought to the ground
Lastely I make Thomas Wright Clarke & my Cosen William Manchester overseers of this my last will & testament
