Robert Barnes of Eastwell 1744 Will

In the Name of God Amen I Robert Barns of Eastwell in the County of Leicester Shepherd Being weak of Body but of a Sound and perfect Memory do Make this My Last Will & Testament

First I Commend My Soul into the hands of almighty God that Gave it Me And My Body I Commit to the Earth to be Decently Buryed at the Discretion of my [blank] hereafter named

& when my Debts & funeral Expences are paid & Discharged I Give & Bequeath to Thomas Barns of Branston My Son the Sum of ten pounds of Lawfull Money to be paid him by My Executor & Executrix when he shall Accomplish his Age of twenty six years or be Six and twenty years old and if he Die before he accomplish that age then my Son William Barns to have the said Legacy

Item I Give to my Daughter Mary the wife of Francis Huckerby one Shilling And also Mary her Daughter one Shilling

As to All the Rest and Singular my Goods Chattels & personall Estate I Give And Bequeath to William Barns my Son & to Mary my Loving wife whome I make Executor & Executrix in trust of this my Last Will & Testament And My Will is that if My Said Widow Marry Again then my Son William to pay her five pounds only & She to have no More by virtue of her Executrixship Nor She my Said Widow to Give any thing away from my Son William that he to have all the Effects at her Decease

And if it happen My Son William Barns to Die Unmarried then my Will is that my Son Thomas Barns Shall have all and singular everything I have Given my Son William and if they should Both Die (as God prevents) Under Age & unmarried as above Mentiond then my Daughter Mary Huckerby to have both their parts or portions at the Decease of my said widow if she be not Marryed again

In witness whereof I have Sett my hand & Seal this fourth Day of January 1741/42
