James Barnes of Nether Broughton 1791 Will

In the Name of God Amen I James Barnes of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Framework knitter being very weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God and knowing the mortality of my Life and that it is appointed for all men Once to die do make and Ordain this my Last will and testament

And Principally and first of all I Recommend my Soul into the Hand of God that gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in Christian Decent Burial at the Descretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased Got to bless me with in this Life I Give Divise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form

And first I Give and Dispose to my Son James Barnes of Redmile Eight Pounds that I Lent him March 25th 1780 and five Shillings to be paid him at my Decease

Also I give to my Son Willm Barnes that Frame which he now worketh in and the Old part of my House and the ground thereto belonging Namely the Orchard adjoining to Mr Baldock and Mr Frisby and for him to pay three Shillings a year out of the same to my son John Barnes but Providing that my son Willm doth sell the above said house and Orchard to pay my son John Barnes three Pounds in money out of the said Purchase

Also I Give to my son John Barnes that Frame which I now work in my Self

Also I Give to my Grandaughter Elizabeth Hart that Frame which she worketh in and my Feather Bed and Beding and four pewter plates and one pewter Dish one Oval table two Boxes two Chairs

Also I Give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Barnes whom I Constitute and appoint the Sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament the Frame which she now Worketh in, and part of my house Called the new Room and the Ground to it adjoining from the Old House up to the top adjoining to Robert Jackson on the side of it and Mr Baldock at the top End, and the Cowhouse and all things thereto belonging, and my will is that my Daughter Elizabeth Barnes shall pay out of the same two shillings yearly and Providing that she selleth the same for to pay my Son John Barnes two Pounds in money out of the said Purchase if not sold to pay him Only the two shilling yearly and my Daughter Elizabeth Barnes to have my Cattle and the Remaining part of my Houshold Goods and my will is that my son Willm Barnes and my Daughter Elizabeth Barnes shall pay out of the Houses all Borrowed Money and that all things shall stand as they are Untill twelve months and One Day after my Decease, and Frame Rents and Interest money to be paid untill that that

And I do hereby Utterly disallow Disanul and Revoke all and Every Former wills Legasies bequeaths and Executors by me in any ways before named or willed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last will and testament

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this sixth Day of November in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty five
