James Barnes of Saxelby 1786 Will

In the Name of God Amen This 2nd day of January One Thousand seven Hundred and Seventy Nine I James Barns of Saxelby in the County of Leicester, Grazier Being of perfect mind and Memory Calling to mind it is appointed for all to Die I do hereby make and order This my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following

I commend my Soul to Almighty God and my Body to the Earth to be decently Buried at the Charge and Expences of my Executors herein after mentioned And as for such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I dispose of as follows

First I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Johnson the Wife of John Johnson of Dalby super Woulds in the County of Leicester the sum of One shilling of Lawfull money of Great Britain at my Decease to be paid by my Executors herein after mentioned

Of all the rest and residue of Goods Cattle Chattles and personal Estate of what kind soever I give and Bequeath the same unto my lawfull Wife Sarah Barns and my Son James Barns whom I hereby appoint full and Sole Executors of this my Will

In Witness whereof I the said James Barns have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above Written

Signd Sealed Published and declared by the said James Barns the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereunto in his presence

Let a probat be made to Sarah Barns Widow and James Barns the joint Executors within named they being duly sworn as well to the faithful Execution of the Will as that the Testator’s Goods Chattels and Credits do not amount in value to the sum of One Hundred pounds
