James Barnes of Saxelby 1760 Will

In the name of God Amen I James Barnes the Elder of Saxleby in the County of Leicester husbandman being Somewhat infirme in Body but of Sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same do make this my last will & Testament in manner and forme following That is to say

First & principally I resigne my Soule into the hands of God my Creator hoping thro’ the meritts of my mercifull Redeemer Jesus Christ to be made partaker of Eternal happiness And my body I Commit to the Earth to be decently Interred at the discretion of the Extor & Extrix hereinafter named and as to my Worldly Estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose thereof as followes

Impris I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Hollingshead the Sume of Ten pounds And to my daughter Margaret Barnes Spinster the Sum of Twenty pounds both which Legacies I will Shall be paid out of my personal Estate within twelve months next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath All my Goods Chattles Cattle Credits ready money and personall Estate whatsoever unto my Loving wife and Son James Barnes to be Equally divided between them share and share alike they paying thereout all my just debts Legacies and funerall Expences

And I do hereby Nominate and Appoint by said Son James Barnes Executor and my said Wife Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revokeing all former Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seal this Tenth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Six
