George Barnes of Stathern 1823 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me George Barnes of Stathern in the County of Leicester Shepherd

I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal Estate whatsoever situate at Stathern aforesaid or elsewhere unto Robert Barke of Stathern aforesaid Carpenter his heirs and assigns for ever Subject to the payment of my debts funeral expences and the following Legacies (namely)

To my three Daughters Ruth Dowse, Elizabeth Sandy, and Sarah Grumley five pounds apiece to be paid within twelve months from my death and the sum of five pounds to the children of my late daughter Bridget Walker to be paid to them on their respectively attaining the age of twenty one years

And I appoint the said Robert Barke sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills be my heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the [“said” missing] George Barnes the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two

Signed sealed published and declared by the said George Barnes the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed as Witnesses hereto

Let a probat be granted to Robert Barke of Stathern in the County of Leicester sole Executor named in the will of George Barnes who died at Stathern Jan 7 1823

He the said Robert Barke being duly sworn as well to the faithful Execution of the will as that the Testator’s Goods, Chattles & Credits as they were at his death without deducting any Debts owing by him therefrom did not amount in value to the sum of 100£
