This is the last Will and Testament of me Amos Barnes of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester Cordwainer

I give and devise unto my Son John Barnes all that Close or Ground inclosed situate in Old Dalby aforesaid containing five acres more or less and called or known by the name of the Platt To hold the same unto my said son John Barnes his heirs and assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to the Mortgage now charged upon the same

I give and devise all other my Messuages Closes Lands Tenements and Hereditaments situate at Old Dalby aforesaid or elsewhere unto my said son John Barnes for his life and after his decease I give and devise the same unto all the Children of the said John Barnes now born or hereinafter to be born To hold the same unto my said sons Children their heirs and assigns for ever as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants

I give and bequeath all my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said son subject nevertheless to the Payment of my debts funeral and testamentary Expences

And I appoint my said Son Executor of this my Will

In Witness whereof I the said Amos Barnes the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this ninth day of September One Thousand eight hundred and twenty eight

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Amos Barnes the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his Request in his presence and in the presence of each other hereunto subscribed our Names as Witnesses

A Business of filing in the Registry for safe custody the last Will and Testament of Amos Barnes late of Old Dalby in the county of Leicester Cordwainer deceased

Upon which Day appeared personally John Barnes of Old Dalby aforesaid Farmer and Alleged that he is a Devisee named in the last Will and Testament of Amos Barnes late of Old Dalby in the county of Leicester cordwainer deceased and as such a party beneficially interested in the due preservation of the said last Will and Testament And the appearer further alleged that the personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased did not according to the best of his knowledge and belief amount in value to the sum of five Pounds and prayed that such last Will and Testament might for safe custody be filed in the Registry of the said Archdeacon’s Court of Leicester Wherefore the Surrogate having administered to the Appearer an Oath that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased did not amount in Value to the sum of Five Pounds decreed such Original Will to be filed in the Registry and a copy thereof to be delivered out to the Appearer attested as is usual in such cases And of the Promises decreed these letters testimonial to be made.
