In the name of God Amen I James Bardsey of Scalford in the County of Leicester (being weake in bodie but of perfect memory and understandinge) doe ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followinge

Imprimis I bequeath my body to the ground decentlie to bee interred and my Soule to god that gave it

Item for that Capitall house in Scalford aforesaid the Close Orchard homesteed and one yard land and a halfe thereunto belonging and all ther appurtences whatsoever now in the tenure of Steven Wood [sic, but meant to be Awood?] And alsoe those twoe Cottages in Scalford aforesaid with all the appurtences thereunto belonging now in the Tenure of William Daft and Anne Webster widow and in the tenure of Anthony Molton or their Assignes I bequeath them all to my deare and loveing mother Sarah Bardsey togeather with all that right title and interest that I said James Bardsey may Clayme in any of the premisses by virtue of the last Will & testament of my uncle George Bardsey To have and to hould the said Capitall messuage and Cottages with the appurtences thereunto belongeinge to her her heires and Assignes for ever more

Item for all my other personal estate I doe give the same unto my said Mother Sarah Bardsey whom I doe hereby make the sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament And thus revokeing all other wills whatsoever I doe ordeyne this last and as my last will and Testament

Witnesse my hand & Seale hereunto put the Seaven and Twentieth day of October one thousand six hundred fiftie one

This Will was proved at Westminster the Tenth day of the moneth of June in the yeare of our Lord God accordinge to the Computacon of the Church of England One Thousand six hundred Fiftie and Foure Before the Judges for probate of the Wills and grauntinge Administracons lawfully Authorized By the Oath of Sarah Bardsey Mother and Sole Executrix of the said deceased in the same Will named To whom was Committed Administracon of all and Singuler the goods Chattles and debts of the said deceased she beinge first Sworne by virtue of a Commission truely to Administer the same
