John Baker of Nether Broughton 1756 Will

For as much as it is appointed for all men once to dye upon the eleventh Day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and fifty six I John Baker of Neather Broughton in the County of Leicester Weaver do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth

First I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God and my Body to the Earth And as for those Worldly Goods Which it hath pleased God to bestow upon my I give and bequeath as followeth

First I give and Devise unto My Daughter Mary Man and her Assignes my House and orchard with all the appurtenances their unto belonging in Neather Broughton at the Decease of her Mother in law Mary Baker to her and her assignes for Ever

Also I give unto my Daughter may the ticking of a feather bed

Also I give unto my granddaughter Ann Man my largest pewter Dish and my great ovel table

Also my Lesser pewter Dish and one pewter plate I give unto my Grand Daughter Ann Baker

Also I give unto my Daughter Mary Man one feather Bed and Bedsted

Also I give unto my grand Daughter Mary Man one little tabel with a Drawer in it

Also I give to my grandson Thomas Baker my Chist

Also I give unto my loving Wife Mary Baker all the rest of my Household goods for her life if She so long continue My Widdow and from and emeideatly after her Decease or her marriage with another man I give my household goods to my Daughter Mary Man she being at the charges of her mother in law Mary Baker’s Buryal

Also I give unto my Wife Mary Baker one of my Cows for her life and then to go to my Daughter Mary Man

All the rest of my goods cattle money and personal estate Whatsoever I give unto my son and Daughter John Baker and Mary Man Whom I make my Sole Executor and Executrix they paying my Debts and funeral charges and Legacys

Also my will is that my wife Mary Baker shall have the possession of the Left Close above the pasture for her life by and with the consent of Lord Treversham

Lastly revoking all former wills I ordain this my last will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Baker the testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the Day and year before Written
