Elizabeth Baker of Ab Kettleby 1744 Will

In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Baker of Ab Kettleby in the County of Leicester Widow being somewhat infirme in body but of sound and disposeing mind memory and Understanding praised be Almighty God for the same Doe make and Ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner and forme following

First and principally I Comitt my Soul into the hands of God who gave it hoping thro the meritts of my blessed Redeemer Jesus Christ to be made partaker of Eternall happiness and my body to the Earth to be decently Interred at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and as to my Worldly Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I dispose thereof as followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Neice Elizabeth the wife of [blank] Coldtrough of [blank] in the County of Nottingham Woolcomber the Sume of Three pounds And I will that the receipt of the said Elizabeth shall be a Sufficient discharge to my Executor for the same notwithstanding her Coverture

Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Catherine Lovett of Croxton Kerryall in the said County of Leicester Widow the Sume of five pounds

Item I give and bequeath unto my Neice Alice Darby wife of Thomas Darby of Scalford in the said County of Leicester Shepherd the Sume of five pounds

All which Severall Legacies I will shall be paid by my Executor hereinafter named within twelve months next after my decease But my Will and mind is that if any loss shall happen to my Executor for or by reason of any Security or Securitys for any Sume or Sumes of money out at Interest Such loss shall be borne by all my Legatees proportionably according to their respective Legacies

Item all the rest of my Goods Chattells and personall Estate after payment of my debts Legacies and funerall Expences I give & bequeath unto my Nephew Edward Smart of Ab Kettleby aforesaid framework knitter and do make & Ordain him full and Sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking and making void all former Wills & Testaments by me made declaring this to be my last Will & Testament

In Witness and whereof I the said Elizabeth Baker the Testatrix have to this my last Will & Testament put my hand & Seale this Twelfth day of October One thousand Seven hundred & forty three
