Thomas Awood of Scalford 1724 Will

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Awood of Scalford in the County of Leicester Yeoman being weak in body but of a sound & well disposing memory (praised be God for it) do make this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following

First I bequeath my soul to God my maker in hopes of a gracious acceptance with him only upon the account of Jesus Christ my Redeemer & my body to the ground to be buried with Christian burial at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named & as for that portion of Worldly Goods it hath pleased God to entrust me with I bequeath them as followeth

Imprimis I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth the Sum of one hundred & fifty pounds to be raised out of my Stock within three years after my decease or sooner if my Executrix shall think fit

Item I give unto my Daughter Hellen the like sum of one hundred & fifty pounds to be raised as above

Item That whereas upon the marriage of Daughter Frances with Thomas Willbourn of Coson & of my Daughter Ann with Daniell Jenkinson of Barrowby I assigned to each of them after mine & my Wive’s decease one fifth part of my lands & houses at Scalford It is now my Will that the said lands & houses Should after my Wives decease be equally divided into four parts And that the heir or heirs of my Son & Daughter Willbourn shall have one fourth part, The heir or heirs of My son & daughter Jenkinson another fourth part, my daughter Elizabeth another fourth part, besides the hundred & fifty pounds out of my Stock given her as above And it is my Will that my Daughter Hellen shall have the other fourth part besides the hundred & fifty pounds out of my stock given her as above

Item, It is my Will that if my Daughter Elizabeth or my Daughter Hellen shall die without issue then the fourth part of the land, here given them, shall return to the surviving heirs

Item I give more unto my Son & Daughter Jenkinson above mentioned, my Grandson Mark Jenkinson, and my Grand daughter Hellen Willbourn, each two guineas

All the rest of my Goods & chattels, after my just debts & funeral expences are discharged, I give unto my beloved wife, whom I make Sole Executrix of this my last will & Testament, revoking all others formerly by me made

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty fourth day of July in the year of our Lord Christ 1724
