William Daft of Melton Mowbray 1801 Will and Bond

This is the Last Will and Testament of me William Daft of Melton Mowbray in the County of Leicester Taylor As to such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I Give Devise and bequeath of the same as follows (that is to say)

In the first place I Give and Devise All that Close of Meadow or Pasture Ground and premises with the Appurtenances lying and being in the Lordship of Nether Broughton in the said County of Leicester containing by Estimation three Acres or thereabouts (be the same more of less) and called or known by the Name of Hopkins Close and now in the Tenure or Occupation of John Baker his Assignee or Assigns And Also all that undivided Moiety or Equal half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) Of All that Close of Meadow or Pasture Ground and premises with the Appurtenances lying and being in the Lordship of Broughton Sulney in the County of Nottingham containing by Estimation Six Acres or thereabouts (be the same more or less) and called or known by the Name of Muckle Hill Close and now in the Tenure or Occupation of the said John Baker his Assignee or Assigns unto my Dear and Loving Wife Ann Daft for and during the Term of her natural Life and from and immediately after her decease then I Give and Devise the said undivided Moiety or equal half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) of the said Close called Muckle Hill Close lying and being in the Lordship of Broughton Sulney aforesaid unto my Son William Daft his Heirs and Assigns for ever

And also from and after my said Wifes decease then I Give and Devise the said Close called Hopkins Close lying and being in the Lordship of Nether Broughton aforesaid unto my Daughter in Law Dorothy Daft and her Assigns for and during such part of her natural life only as she shall continue a Widow And from and immediately after the decease or Marriage of my said Daughter in Law which shall first happen I Give and Devise All that the said Close called Hopkins Close lying and being in the Lordship of Nether Broughton aforesaid with the Appurtenances unto my three Grandsons William Daft Joseph Daft and John Daft the three children of my late Son John Daft and their respective Heirs and Assigns for ever to take and enjoy the same as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants And in Case one of my said Grandsons shall happen to die under the age of twenty one years without Lawful Issue of his Body then I Give and devise the Share of such Grandson so dying unto the Survivors of them my said three Grandsons and their respective Heirs and Assigns for ever as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants

And also I Give and bequeath unto my Dear and Loving Wife Ann Daft All and singular my Household Goods other Goods Stock Cattle Chattels Rights Credits and Personal Estate of what nature or kind soever (my Debts and Funeral Expences being first paid and discharged)

And Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Dear and Loving Wife Ann Daft full and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said William Daft the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Ninety nine

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said William Daft the Testator as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other set our Hands as Witnesses to the due Execution thereof

Bond, bounden William Daft of Thurmaston Leicestershire framework knitter, Thomas Evans of Thurmaston framework knitter and Thomas Henson of Thurmaston framework knitter for £70, 12 September 1801.  William Daft tailor of Melton Mowbray made wife sole executrix and residuary legatee but she died in his lifetime.  Condition of obligation bounden William Daft son and only next of kin and administrator of will to produce inventory and administer estate.

Let Administration with the will annexed of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the within named William Daft deceased be granted and committed under Seal to the within bound William Daft the son and only next of kin of the said deceased

He being duly sworn as well to the faithful Administration of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased according to the tenor and Effect of the said Will as that the said Goods Chattels and Credits do not amount in value to the sum of One hundred pounds
