Jasper Perkins of Saxelby 1838 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Jasper Perkins of Saxelby in the County of Leicester Farmer that is to say

I give and bequeath to my dear Wife Eleanor Perkins the furniture of two Rooms in my Dwelling House to be at her own disposal

I give to my daughter Alice Perkins the sum of One hundred pounds to be paid to her at her age of twenty one years

I give to my son William Perkins the sum of Twenty pounds to be paid to him within twelve Calendar months next after my decease

And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject nevertheless to the payment of the before mentioned legacies my just Debts and funeral and testamentary expences I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto Jasper Houghton of Saxelby aforesaid Farmer and Thomas Hemsley of Grimston in the said County Farmer their executors and administrators Upon trust that they or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor Do and shall during the natural life of my said Wife pay apply and dispose of the interest dividends increase and produce thereof unto and equally between my said Wife and my son John Perkins share and share alike or otherwise permit and suffer them to receive the same And from and after the decease of my said Wife I give and bequeath the said residue and remainder of my said personal Estate and Effects and every part thereof unto my said son John Perkins his executors administrators and assigns for his and their own use and benefit

I appoint the said Jasper Houghton and Thomas Hemsley joint Executors of this my Will

And my Will and meaning is that my said Trustees and Executors and their respective Executors administrators and assigns shall and lawfully may from and out of the monies which shall come to their respective hands by virtue of the trusts of this my Will retain to and reimburse themselves respectively all such loss costs charges damages and expences as they or either of them shall or may sustain expend disburse or be put unto for or by reason or means or on account or in the execution of the Trusts hereby in them reposed or anything relating thereto And further that they shall not be answerable or accountable for any monies to be by them or either of them placed out at interest or deposited for safe Custody or otherwise that may be lost unless it be through their or his own wilful neglect or default And that they my said Trustees and Executors shall not be answerable or accountable the one for the other of them or for the Acts receipts neglects or defaults of the other of them but each of them only for his own separate Acts receipts neglects and defaults

Lastly I hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and I declare this to be my last Will and Testament

In witness whereof I the said Jasper Perkins the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the Third day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Jasper Perkins the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other

Jasper Houghton of Saxelby in the county of Leicester Grazier and Thomas Hemsley of Grimston in the same County Farmer and Grazier executors in the will named were duly sworn to the truth and faithful performance thereof as usual and that the goods chattells and credits of the deceased do not amount in value to the sum of Six Hundred Pounds and that the deceased died on the second day March last past
