John Selby of Stathern 1811 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Selby of Stathern in the County of Leicester Grazier

I give and bequeath all my Goods Money and effects whatsoever of which I may die possessed unto Benjamin Musson of Barkston and William Shipman the elder of Stathern Graziers their Executors Administrators and Assigns, upon the Trusts hereafter mentioned that is to say

After payment of my debts and my funeral and testamentary Expences and such costs and expenses as shall be incurred in the trusts of my Will, I divide the residue into two equal parts and to permit my Wife Ann Selby to enjoy one part thereof for her life, and my Sister Sarah Selby to enjoy the other part for her life, but I wish the Household furniture Plate Linen and other household effects to be valued and to go as a part of my Wifes share and in line thereof the Sum of Money at which such furniture and effects shall be valued to go to my sisters share

And as to my Wifes share to pay at her death, the Sum of three hundred Pounds to the Executors or Administrators of my said Wife, and divide and pay the residue thereof to and amongst my Nephews and Nieces and their respective representatives in manner hereafter mentioned

And as to my sisters share to pay and divide the whole thereof on her death, to and amongst my said Nephews and Nieces and their respective representatives in manner hereafter mentioned

And I declare that if any of my Nephews and Nieces shall die in my life time their shares shall not lapse but go to their respective representatives and I expressly direct and declare that my Nephews and Nieces hereafter mentioned shall divide my property amongst them in the proportions of and according to the respective Sums of money affixed to the names of each of the respectively viz Grace Jarman One hundred Pounds each of her five sisters of the said Grace Jarman Fifty Pounds Sarah Jowitt One hundred and Fifty Pounds William Iberson Two hundred Pounds Richard Iberson one hundred and Fifty pounds John Parr Two hundred and Fifty Pounds Richard Parr Two hundred and Fifty Pounds and Mary Duke Two hundred and Fifty pounds

And I appoint the said Benjamin Musson and William Shipman joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twenty third day of January 1810

I John Selby make this Codicil to my Will

I direct that the Household Goods Plate Linen and other Household Effects shall become the sole and absolute property of my Wife at my death and to be at her disposal and not to be divided on her death as I have mentioned in my Will 23d Jany 1811

Let a Probat be granted to Benjamin Musson and William Shipman joint Executors within named They the said Benjamin Musson & Wm Shipman being duly sworn as well to the faithful execution of the will as that the Testators Goods Chattels & Credits do not amount in value to the sum of Two Thousand Pounds
